My Bucket List

Each and every single one of us have had ideas of what we want do, what we are going to do, or what we have already done. All in all, we compose many ideas, in other words known as "A Bucket List". Even though I have only been on this earth for almost 19 years, there are things I have done, want to do, or am going to do.

Mexico
In August 2011, I finally went somewhere where my family lives that I've never been before, and that place is Mascota, Mexico. I have aunts, uncles, cousins, whom I never ever met before. Mexico is a different environment, and I felt like I was home. I was welcomed with loving and open arms, and especially fed delcious food. I have always wanted to go and see where apart of me belongs. The beaches are beautiful, the people are friendly, and it really is a part every night. But now this August, I am going back to visit my family, and experience the life I love in Mexico.

To See My Favorite Band

When I hear the band City and Colour, I immediately freak out. Dallas Green from City and Colour has had lyrics that touched my heart and has made me to relate to each and every song. Without the music of City and Colour, I wouldn't have gotten through high school. With years and years dedicated to supporting their music and getting other interested is what I love to do. I have met many who have the same love for City and Colour as I do. What I want to do before I die, is to go to one of their concerts, which typically sells out. I would love for Dallas Green to know he changed my life with his simple love of music and lyrics.
One of my favorite songs of all time: "The Girl" by City and Colour

Marriage
One day, I hope to get married to the love of my life. It is always every girls dream to get married, settle down, and have kids. Marriage isn't just about a ring, a big wedding, and lots of gifts. It is just about being with the person whom you want to spend the rest of your life with. No, I don't want a fairytale wedding, like the ones on TV. I just want to celebrate my new start in life with the man I love.

Traveling
One day, I hope to travel whereve my heart desires. I love learning about different and new cultures whether it is from music, food, religion, and the way of life. My dad and I are alike in a sense of trying new things. I wish both my dad and I had more free time then we could travel to where ever our hearts desire. The only negative side is having to learn a new language to communicate, but it will be worth it. Hopefully, when I'm older I could travel with my kids, I could teach them new cultures, how to be thankful for everything they have and to not take anything for granted.

In the end I just want to be succesful, have fun, and live life to the fullest. I may have many more hopes, dreams, and inspirations to come. But to not any day for granted is truly the best way to do anything you want to do.

Tuesdays With Morrie

Usually when it comes to books I just read it because I have to, but when it comes to the novel "Tuesdays With Morrie" by  Mitch Albom, I was instantly hooked and honestly couldn't put the book down. Morrie is an inspiration to everyone and even opened up my eyes with his belief, friendship, and his true calling in life and how to not take anytime or anything for granted. But what touched me about this book is that he reminded me of my grandfather, because of his strength, wisdom, passion, and his overall outlook on life. The final days of Morrie's life is the same way my grandfather left this world, so it truly hit a soft spot in my heart. This novel taught me how to not be afraid of getting older, and to reach for my dreams. Morrie taught Mitch that there is no such thing as "too late." Even if you have broken friendships, and career troubles, it is not too late to make yourself happy and to forgive everything in your past. Morrie taught us all to not take advantage of the little things in life instead enjoy the little things whether its from the plants outside, the weather, and the people you love who surround you. This is absolutely one of my favorite books to read, and I keep on telling those around me they need to read it, because it will change you life.

Job's for America's Youth

When we are younger we think of our dream job. Maybe, when you were 6 you wanted to be a singer, at 9 you wanted to be a chef, 13 you wanted to be a nurse and that idea and career is now your goal and dream job. Well all those thoughts and ideas are what I wanted to do when it came to college and a career. But some of us college students are so indesicive in what it is we want to do when it comes to our career and future. I have had a lot of family member who go to school and get there degree, and soon after they cannot find a job in what they have a degree in, or they are not passionate about what their degree is in. In the article "How a New Jobless Era Will Transform America" by Don Peck, he states "Job-switching is common, and with it, periods of voluntary, transitional unemployment."  Many college students change their mind of the future, or they can't find jobs due to the recession. Many are left unemployed and searching for themselves when they don't percisely know what the want to do or who to become. The career is very desirable and is the top job, because people are living longer, and a nurse is always needed no matter what. Knowing what you want to do and doing something that makes you happy, researching some top career choices can help so you have no needs to worry about unemployment.

"Carrie" by Stephen King

The novel "Carrie" by Stephen King which was published by the Penguin Group  in New York, New York 1974. Stephen King is known for all his horror and terrifying books. Carrie takes place in Chamberlain, Maine, and the book is about a senior girl named Carrie White, who has been ridiculed by classmates throughout the years. She is described as fat, full of acne, and was the root of all jokes. Carrie’s mother is a crazy religious woman, who thinks that her own daughter is a sin. Carrie’s mother has not taught her about woman hood and tends to lock her in a closet when she “misbehaves”. The story starts with Carrie taking a shower after gym class, she then starts her period, and thinks that she is dying. All the girls begin to throw female products at her, which leads to all the girls having to either choose to go to after school detention, or be suspended and miss prom. Little does everyone know that Carrie has telekinetic powers, but she soon discovers how much power she really has. One of the girls named Chris, who has always made fun of Carrie, decides to seek revenge on Carrie whom she hates for no reason. Another one is the sweeter girls Sue, gets her boyfriend Tommy Ross, to take Carrie White to senior prom. Sue just wants Carrie to have one special night. But when prom comes, all hell breaks loose when Chris then gets revenge, but the roles are reversed… This book is shocking, horror, and those who once went after Carrie, Carrie seeks revenge on them.

I personally thought this book was fantastic, but I especially love scary books as well as scary movies. This book perfectly displayed and gives details about Carries life when she was younger, and how that really affected her in every page that leads up to prom. I absolutely loved the 1970’s adaption of the book Carrie, and was every bit as terrifying as the book. I saw the movie first, and it’s definitely a classic, but the book brings in more details. A strong quote that really tells how Carrie feels is “She could, she knew she would be in another place…sometimes she felt so miserable, empty, and bored, that the only way was to eat and eat and eat.. she thought her legs were actually pretty, almost as pretty as Sue Snell’s or Vicky Hanscom’s”(41) I find it sad and heartbreaking how Carrie compares every inch of her body to everyone else and constantly picks out her flaws. I feel as every girl picks out her flaws, including myself, but we pretend to not let it get to us. When Carrie is face to face with Tommy Ross, it says “She felt her heart would break if he uttered so much as the wrong sound, and if he laughed she would die. She felt-actually, physically—her whole miserable life narrow to a point that might be an end or beginning of a widening beam”(127) but then Tommy says “You’re beautiful”. It made me feel good that Tommy was going to make Carrie’s night special and he wants to make Sue happy as well, for helping Carrie. But when prom night comes it’s a nightmare. This book is crazy and unbelievable! I definitely recommend it if you want a scare.

Advertisement (Wild Card #2)

When see hundreds of adverstisements a day no matter where we are. We could be driving on the freeways and seeing a billboard, watching tv and seeing the commercials, to reading a magazines and seeing a full page used up of trying to sell the next fashionable thing. Some advertisements catch our eyes and you are now known as the "target audience". We as young adults are expected to go along with the latest trends and to known as "stylish" or "popular". We shouldn't listen and buy all the latest and especially expensive products. I feel like we should only by what is necessary for us to live and thrive as humans, and to not fall in to the crowd where you need to be "cool".

My Road To Success

When you were a child no worries pertained to you. You would play with your dolls, take naps, and got a lot of things you asked your parents for. As you got older, each day, each month, each year, you became more independent. You learned how to be successful in everything you do. For me, I learned to be successful by motivation, courage, commitment, passion, and positivity.

Motivation
In my life, I have been surrounded by some amazing people whether it is from my family to my boyfriend. My boyfriend has always been there for me, he is my best friend. He has believed in me when no one else has. He has motivated me to never give up and to always believe in myself. Whenever I am having a bad day he always cheers me up and turns all my negative emotions to positive emotions. When my aunt recently passed away, I didn't think I could keep myself together. I was miserable for weeks. Life hits you hard when someone so close to you passes away, you feel like just giving up. He was there for me through all the heartache, and put my mind at ease and to look on the brightside. He helped and taught me to never give up. You need that extra push in life, and motivation to be successful.

Courage
In order to be successful you need to have courage as well. Courage in never giving up. My courage comes from trying new things and to be able to do what I set my mind to. I was always scared of heights, and was always too scared to go on rides such as rollercoasters. I would always sit up against the railing and watch my whole family go on the ride. I felt sad because I felt like I would never ever be able to conquer my fear. One I got the courage to actually ride the ride after I kept on replaying everyones adrenalin high and laughing after getting off the ride. I knew I could conquer my fear, I got on the rollercoaster, and felt like I was infinite. All my fears went away, and I then learned to never underestimate the little things. You need to have courage in all you do.

Commitment
I played softball since I was 7, in became a big part of my life. In softball you need to committed to the sport, never missing a practice and never ever missing a game. I learned how to work with others and supporting each other whether or not they got a hit or on base. A softball team is just like a family, you are always together, even sometimes you don't always get along, you always seem to find a way to become as one. You can get hit will the ball, hurt yourself when sliding, or even mess up a play, but that means you should never ever give up no matter what. I learned how to committ myself even when times would get rough, and it makes you feel good that you accomplish what you committ to.

Passion
Volunteering is my passion, when you are able to help someone in need or to help in general you get that feeling of positivity. I have volunteered a lot at such a young age. I have volunteered in painting a school in need, gardening, working in a snack bar, and volunteering with the elderly. When I volunteered with the elderly it became a little part of who I am. I met some amazing people who went through a lot in their lifetime. I would do activities, read, talk, and help them move around. They taught me to have fun in life. You need to have passion in what you love to do, and that for me is to help others.

Positivity
You need to have a postive attitude. When you have a negative attitude you never get anything done, you don't enjoy anything, and especially people don't think to highly of you. I try to have a positive attitude and I give my positive attitude to others. If someone is worried, I always say "think positive" because its true. You can really turn a situation around in a blink of an eye, you just need to believe. I am positive in myself when it comes to my school goals and my future career goals. Maybe some people say you can't do it like the negative people in you life, but you can turn around and say "Hey I made it".

Ad Analysis: Potato Chips

What is the product?: The product is Lay's Classic Potato Chips.
The "hook" (How does the product attract the audience?: The "hook" would be "It takes 12 muscles to smile or 3 simple ingredients.", it even says the ingredients that in the product "Just potatoes, all natural oil & a dash of salt",  and where it says "Happiness & Simple", as well as the little girl enjoying a bag of the product.
Who is the target audience?: I feel like the target audience would be kids as well as parents. The kids are a target because of the young girl used in the ad. The parents would be a target as well because its "all natural" and they want there child to be happy.

Other than the product being sold, I feel like they are trying to sell happiness and enjoyment. They want children and parents to smile over something so simple. I feel as if childhood is being sold too, maybe the parents want their children to enjoy whatever they couldn't have and wanted so badly when they were growing up.

What is the product?: The product is Popchips.
The "hook" (How does the product attract the audience?: The "hook" is singer Katy Perry and the pictures of her with the product, the saying "Love without the handles nothing fake about em.", and the quote from Katy "I can't popchips straight to my lips. Good thing they don't go straight to my hips."
Who is the target audience?: The target audience is teenagers and both men and women who love and listen to Katy Perry. But I feel like the main target audience are young women who want to be in shape and eat right.

Other than the product itself being sold, I think that sex appeal and looking good is what is being sold. If a big celebrity like Katy Perry is selling a product she uses her charm no matter what the product may be.Also confidence and looking good is what is being should, from going to working out to evening wear the chips will not effect the way you look negatively.

Bright Night (Poem)

The night so dark,
not even one star in sight.
Yet, the moon is the only bright light in the sky
Magnificent moon relfection
makes the water glisten
you can hear the woosh sound of the waves if you listen.
Teal blue sea washing up against your feet,
giving the feeling of being free.
The cool breeze kissing your face,
it makes you not want to go to any other place.
You feel like you are in a dream as incredibly as seems.
Night sky that shines so bright,
there is nothing more peacful and beautiful in sight.

The Giver: "Stirrings"

In the novel " The Giver" by Lois Lowry, where those grow up in a society. What they do is being constantly watched, being considered an adult at the age of twelve, where you hormones are out of control at such an adolesent stage. In "The Giver", Jonas had a dream and was wanting to bathe his friend Fiona, he usually never dreams. Jonas felt different, he wanted and had a longing for Fiona. when someone has a sensual dream it is called "stirrings" you are ordered to take a pill each and every morning to make sure you don't have those so called "stirrings." Our body grows, our feelings and hormones start to change. We become familiar to the opposite sex, are relationships are based on the feeling of love. Taking pills, in order to control feeling and emotions that are natural and apart of growing up. You shouldn't be forced to take away something that we develop over time with someone special.

Being Someone You're Not

Nowadays we use the internet to hide behind. Online we can be whoever we want to be. You can make up a new life, add random people who you don't know. We have never really looked at online relationships up close, but their is a new show which caught my attention, and made a connection with online relationships. The show is called "Catifish", most of you might have seen it on MTV or even heard about it. Mainly, Catfish is a show which deals with online relationships, and online love. There are people dying to meet "the love of their life", but have never met each other face to face, or even Skype. Some have talked for months and months,  to years and years. Most of the people are really not who they say they are. They are hiding behind someone else's picture, a made up job, school, and family. Disapointment rises when their "true love" are who they make themselves out to be. This destroys lives and relationships. especially trust. You need to be yourself, you can't pretend to be someone your not, and not add people you don't know. The internet, and social networking, truly has changed the way we interact with one another. What ever happened to the old fashion way in meeting new people from work, school, so you can know if they are who the truly say they are. Don't be someone your not,  and add people you know.

Memoir

"So many thoughts, few words said"
